SAFETY FAQ
What is the status of Covid-19 in the Everest Region?
As for Sept 30, 2020, there have been zero cases of Covid-19 in the Khumbu Region. With Negative PCR tests mandatory for locals and travelers alike, chances are very high that the number will stay that way. Also, the fact that flights are the only way in and Summit Air is strongly committed to safety protocols laid out by CAAN and WHO, further reduce the spread of infection.
Hence, while nothing can be said with any certainty, Everest is a relatively safe place when it comes to Covid-19.
How do the locals feel about travelers coming into the Everest Region?
Given the safety measures put in place, the locals have enthusiastically welcomed travelers in the Khumbu since the first day flights resumed. How local leaders received the very first trekkers and Bahraini royalty is a good indicator of how the locals feel about trekkers in the Everest region.
How does Heli Tours and Altitude Illnesses go together?
Given that all of the tours we run do not spend a significant amount of time above 4,000 meters, chances of your developing a sustained Altitude Illness is very low. Also, given the most important factor for Altitude Illness is the sleep altitude and the fact that you will be based at Lukla (2,860m) for most of the tours, we are pretty confident you will sleep very soundly.
For the one tour in which you stay at the iconic Hotel Everest View (3,880m), you will spend the first night at Lukla (2,860m) which will drastically reduce your chance of getting Acute Mountain Sickness.

When and how do I pay for this trek?

How does refund and cancellations work?
In case of cancellation of flights due to bad weather, your flight tickets will be rescheduled for the next day. If in the unlikely case that flights do not happen for an extended period of time and you wish to cancel your tour, a full refund will be provided.
In case of a government imposed restrictions, a full refund will be provided.
In case you get a positive result in your PCR Test result and inform us at least a day before the flight, a full refund will be provided.
In case of absence of a Negative PCR Test at the time of boarding, you will be denied entry on the flight to Lukla. A partial refund will be provided after subtracting the cost of the departing flight.
