This magpie looks almost exactly like its red-billed close cousin which inhabits the lower altitudes. It is also interesting to note that in another species of the crow family, the choughs, a very similar thing happens. The Red-billed Chough inhabit lower altitudes while the Yellow-billed one is found higher up. What exactly is it about those yellow beaks that make the bird suitable for high altitude? Evolution aside, these magpies inhabit oak-rhododendrons and coniferous forests and are usually found in flocks. They eat just about everything from everywhere like all crows and can also be a bit of a bully.
