The Koklass is one of the six pheasants found in the hills of Nepal and is a bird of the western Himalayas. Annapurna Conservation Area is the easternmost boundary of its range. While widespread in the western Himalayas, they are rather local in Nepal. The Annapurna Conservation Area is rather special in that here one can see all the six pheasants in one place as this as far east as Koklass goes and as far west as the Blood Pheasant goes.
