TIMANG - The first real climb

  • 2,620 meters

At Timang you will feel the sudden increase in altitude. The approximate difference between Timang and Danakyu is 400 m. However, you needn't worry about the altitude rise here, that part comes only after crossing the 3000 m mark and that would be after Dhikur Pokhari. Since the motor roads reached Timang, the number of lodges has seen a drastic increase, probably with the local's expectation that trekkers will simply roll off the 4x4s on the road. But so far that does not seem to be the case as most trekkers pass by Timang to stay at Chame which has better facilities. However, if you are tired and hungry after that climb then this is the best place to have your lunch and get set for the road ahead. However, by no means is Timang not ideal for a night stop. In fact, the place is beautiful with great ambience and views. From here you will get brief glimpses of Manaslu to the east through floating clouds. You will also be a lot of large-billed crows from here as well.
