THANCHOK - No more maize

  • 2,660 meters

Comparatively speaking Thanchok is larger than the previous village of Kurung, but then Kurung is really small. Thanchok has only a handful of lodges and to the north-west of the village is a school, "Shree Deen Dayalu Lower Secondary school". There is also a health post here just in case you need to visit one. Thanchok is also the northern limit of maize cultivation in Marshyangdi valley and the houses here are flat roofed which is the case for all houses in Manang district. Please refer to our route description from Kurung to Thanchok if you don't want to miss this village as there are two options just before the Evergreen hotel in Kurung. The right one will get you to the village of Thanchok, get it?
