SYANGE - Blessed by the waterfall

  • 1,110 meters

Syange is a tiny village with a handful of lodges on both sides of the road. The Syange waterfall is huge and makes its presence felt with it's thundering roar that can be heard from all the lodges. The lodge settlements are decent and owners are mostly Gurungs. A good number of Brahmins are also found in lower parts of the hills alongside the Marshyangdi river and Syange is no exception. Watch out for the beautiful plunge pool in the upper tier of the Syange waterfall. If you make way to this waterfall, you will also see hives of the Himalayan Giant Honey Bee. If you ask around you might even get to taste the honey which is very intoxicating leading to mild hallucinations and temporary loss of motor control. So proceed with caution unless you want to extend your trek by a day or two. If you wish to enjoy the plunge pool then you will have to walk another 2 hours or so. Syange is also in landslide prone area, so it is wise to stay updated about the trail conditions during the monsoon season.
