Like other shrikes, these guys neither like deep forest nor open grassland. They make themselves at home around cultivation where small shrubs or poles provide them with a perch from which these guys keep a watchful eye. Lizards, insects and even rodents are fair game. These guys also have the unusual habit of impaling their prey on thorns to feast on it at a later time. Perhaps the sun treats toxins or foul taste making the prey more savory?
