The Collared Owlet is perhaps the most common owl in the forests of the mid- hills and at 17 cm it is the smallest of the lot. Its presence is generally given away by its bell like toot…..tootoot…..toot. It is most active during dusk and dawn and you might hear its call during dinner. A weird fact about owls is that they cannot move their eyes and have to move the entire head to have a look around which can often turn as much as 270 degrees.
