These drab-colored pheasants are considered vulnerable by IUCN due to snaring, hunting, grazing pressure and habitat loss. These guys are mostly found to the west of the Kali Gandaki. They are mostly heard rather than seen and their call is a chuckling whistle, something like 'chewewoo' mostly during early mornings. If you do happen so see one, you will notice that these guys are gray plain-looking and black-barred bird with a red eye patch and a long narrow pointed tail. These guys are also monogamous unlike some other more flashy pheasants and the female usually lays 10-11 eggs on steep cliff faces during the summer.
