These redstarts are perhaps the most common of the 'land' redstarts as opposed to the redstarts that are invariably found in close proximity to streams. These along with their rest of their cousins are altitudinal migrants who climb up to 4,900 meters for breeding and descend as low as 455m for the winter. These guys show marked sexual dimorphism with the males of this genus coming in a wide variety of colors while the females are all drably clothed in brown.
