  • 1,299 meters

Ratna Park, located in the heart of Kathmandu, is the transportation hub of the valley. It is conveniently located about 10 minutes south of the tourist district of Thamel and is close to the Tundikhel Parade Grounds. Wherever it is that you want to go around Kathmandu, you will find buses or vans in the area around Ratna Park. You could, for most purposes, divide the area around Ratna Park into five sections.

Ratna Park Bus Park : It is the big enclosed area north of Tudikhel. Once you get here, you can barely visualize any sort of system and structure. You can only smell petrol, see water salesman, and buses with their destinations written on it in Nepali. The best you can do is shout out your destination looking at people. And, people will show you which bus to get on. The buses leave when the bus has enough passengers. Here, you can find buses that go to Sundarijal, Bhaktapur (Nagarkot), and Sankhu. Ratna Park Bus Stop : The Ratna Park Bus Stop is the stretch of road between Rani Pokhari and Ratna Park and is located to the north of the Bus Park. You can find buses and microbuses that go to Lagankhel (Godavari), Machhapokhari (Kakani), Pharping (Dakshinkali), Thankot, and Kirtipur (Machchegau). Bhrikutimandap Bus Stop : It is the bus stop to the east of Tundikhel. You can see a long series of Bus stops there. Here, you can find buses that go to Budhanilkantha and Tokha. Shahid Gate : Shahid Gate bus stop lies to the south of Tundikhel. Here you can find buses to Pharping, Dakshinkali, Kirtipur, Thakot, and Machchegau.

NAC : It lies to the west of Tudikhel near Kathmandu Mall. Here, you will find bus stops for nearly every place in Kathmandu. The bus services in the Kathmandu valley typically starts at 5:00 A.M. and halts at 9:00 P.M. However, there still will be night taxis and night buses operating.
