If you're a kind of person who wants to keep away from the hustle bustle of
the city, and loves to embrace the village lifestyle, then Mulkharka is
definitely your place! As the name suggests, 'Mul' means 'main' and 'Kharka'
means 'a pasture land'. Being a small village in the middle of the Shivapuri
National Park, it is mostly occupied by the Tamang community.
Moreover, you may observe people carrying stacks of logs up and down the hill
in a basket called the doko, which is connected to a strap and is then placed
across one's forehead. While getting to envision such artistic crafts and
hardworking personalities, you'll also get to embrace the breathtaking views
of the terrace fields and typical village houses which depict Mulkharka, of
course!
Note that there are a number of lodges in Mulkharka where you can take some
rest and tackle your hunger. Perhaps, a little ahead from the Shree Sundarijal
Adharbhut Vidhyalaya, you'll find one or two lodges. And if you continue your
hike, you'll find a couple of more lodges ahead. However, be sure to fill your
growling stomach in Mulkharka itself because you will not be finding any
eateries after crossing Mulkharka until you reach Chisapani.
