The name is Larjung probably because it's larger than the other two nearby
villages of Khanti and Kobang. Bad joke, we apologize. But it is larger
nonetheless. Situated here are the shrines of Gauchan and Tulachan. As is the
case with Kobang, La Phewa festival is celebrated every 12 years and the
deities are brought out for the public to see. The most interesting place to
visit however is definitely Guru Sangpo cave which can be considered a side
trip. On the way to this cave you will come across many exotic plants and
flowers you have never seen before if it is spring that is. Also, you can take
other side trips to Bhuturcho lake and Sekung lake which will require more
time to reach than the Guru Sangpo cave. At Larjung, the Dhaulagiri and its
ice fall will overlook the village prominently and it's quite a sight. You can
even hear chunks of ice crashing down on the Dhaulagiri icefall. It would be a
nightmare to listen to that sound if you were on the icefall yourself but down
below from Larjung it could well be music to your ears.
There is a safe drinking water station here that will cure cancer. Too many
awful jokes, we know. In all seriousness, there is a safe drinking water
station here.
