To sum it all up Jomsom is the most advanced of all the villages and towns in
the Annapurna Circuit and the largest too. It is the administrative
headquarters of Mustang. The facilities range from a domestic airport, banks,
health posts, quality restaurants and lodges, ACAP centre to motorcycle
service centres. The internet speed will also start to get better from hereon.
Basically, any need you might have, Jomsom will oblige.
Jomsom is divided into two parts. The old settlement is towards the north-east
and the new settlement is towards the south-west which is called Puthang. The
majority of the lodges and banks are towards the west end of the town in
Puthang, alongside the runway of the airport. Jomsom is also a good place to
go apple shopping in large quantities in case you want to fly back to
Kathmandu. Although Marpha is the apple haven, buying apples in large
quantities (unless you have a jeep) will not be a logical decision in Marpha.
There is also the Mustang Eco-museum towards the south-west of Jomsom just
when the runway is about to end.
With the advent of domestic airport, Jomsom has been commercialized and sees a
lot of hustle and bustle along with the heavy winds blowing up the Kali
Gandaki corridor.
