HUMDE - Airport town

  • 3,390 meters

Humde is probably most famous for its airport as it is the only one in the Marshyangdi valley of the Annapurna circuit. Is it more reliable than the Jomsom airport? The answer is no! With very few flights to Humde and a high number of cancelled flights, Humde airport is definitely not the most reliable. Keeping this in mind the airstrip was renovated and enlarged in 2011. It sure has made transportation to Manang a lot easier and quicker.

Humde connects Lower Pisang to Mugje and if you decide to take the higher route that passes through the village of Gyaru and Ngawal then you will certainly miss Humde. But given that the higher route is good for both acclimatization and for the pleasure of your eyes, missing Humde shouldn't be a big deal. However, the one interesting thing you will miss is one of the longest mani walls in the region consisting of 266 wheels; it runs through the center of the village. There is a police station here so get ready with your permits. There are also many lodges, health post and a safe drinking water station here that cater to the needs of travelers.
