DOBHAN - Eat up your pigs here

  • 2,580 meters

About one and a half hours from Dobhan is a small shrine dedicated to Paunchhi Barah and taking meat especially pork beyond this point is traditionally prohibited. It is because locals consider the valley to be a Sanctuary of Gods. ACAP has also introduced a Special Management Zone in the area to preserve the biophysical assets of the region. The zone actually starts past Chhomrong itself. At Dobhan, it is very likely that you will see the Nepal Gray Langur and hear the eerie call of the Satyr Tragopan. Also around April-May, the forests here are flushed pink with rhododendron bloom.
