DHAMPUS - Mountains for breakfast

Dhampus is a favored quick getaway for locals and tourists from Pokhara and for good reason. This Gurung village has expansive mountain views and good accommodation. It is also connected to the road network now and public transportation is available from Pokhara. (See Getting there section for more details) As with most other Gurung settlements in the area, Dhampus too is home of the famed Gurkhas. There is actually a Gurkha themed Basanta Lodge here, which is run with military efficiency by an ex-serviceman. A quick stroll around this pretty village will bring you to small tea gardens in the slopes, a sacred pond and also the Dhampus Sallim Church!!
