BAGARCHHAP - Buggers!

  • 2,100 meters

This Bhotiya settlement can be easily identified and the Tibetan influences are obvious with flat-roofed stone houses. It also has a beautiful gompa which goes by the name of Diki Kalsang Gompa which is worth a visit. This part of Gyasumdo region is landslide prone and historical evidence backs it up. In fact, in the last 25 years, this village has seen two major landslides. The one in 1995 swept away 17 houses and killed several villagers and trekkers. So if there's heavy rainfall be careful and get updates from the locals because after all, they are your best source of information. After Bagarchhap, just before reaching Qunche there is a suspension bridge that leads to the village of Tachai if you are interested.
