In the simplest of language, the more wood a house has on its roof the more wealthy the house owner is. This is the belief behind all the houses of the Thakali community with wood logs on top. To think of it more logically the wood logs are kept on the rooftops to be dried from all that sun it receives. Once the wood logs are dried they are used as firewood and then they are replaced with fresh wood logs. And since the firewoods have a price tag on them the logic sinks in, the more wood logs on the roof the more well off the owner.
