While parakeets are generally sedentary birds of the lowlands, this particular one frequents the hills and is also reported to exhibit altitudinal migration. These guys share the generally noisy disposition of the family and are generally easy to tell apart from other parakeets by their dark-grey head and yellow tails. The males of this species can be told from the females by maroon epaulettes on the shoulders.
