The Himalayan palm civet can be told from other civets by its white whiskers and by the absence of any trace of spots or stripes on its body. It's coat ranges from uniform gray to tawny while the underparts are white. Its facial markings are variable, usually a white band on the forehead and nose, another beneath the ears passing over the cheeks, and a blotch in each eye which makes it look like they haven't slept for months. The habits of the Himalayan palm civet are very similar to the common palm civet. It lives in mountain and hill forests, sheltering in holes of trees and hunting its food in the treetops or on the ground. It lives mainly on fruits but like all civets, it also preys on small animals and birds that it can capture and kill.
