A very striking plant because of the structure which is curved back on itself and with large ear-like flaps. The colour is green over dark purple and be found from May to June. Leaves and petioles are fermented, dried and eaten as vegetable or mixed in potato curry. You will probably be served some if you eat dal bhat in the areas where these plants are found. The very fermented and dried leaves and petioles are used to cure diarrhoea as well.
