Common treecreeper has warm brown upperparts which are intricately designed with white spots. Its belly, flank and vent area are buffed with white furs. Both the sexes are found to be similar but a juvenile has a much duller body. This dude starts breeding from the age of one and builds a nest made of twigs, pine needles, grass and a line of finer material such as feather, wool, moss or spider web and is mostly found in tree crevices of coniferous forest. Food for this bird comes in the form of insects and spider. They are careful in their forage and usually do not come down but scan from one tree to another first. It is solitary in winter, but in cold weather up to a dozen or more birds will roost together in a suitable sheltered crevice.
