This is a deciduous shrub (30 - 60 cm) with finely grooved branches and slender stem filled with long pointed thorns. The whole plant looks like a fortress built by an evil overlord. The leaves are small, narrowly elliptical and always come out in groups of 4 or 5. Flowers (9 mm across) are yellow in color. This plant attracts attention because of its bright red berries. This plant is valued for its medicinal quality and is used to treat cough. This plant is also endemic to Nepal.
