This fleshy fruit welcomes you with its juicy taste in the alpine villages of Nepal. Alcohol made of this fruit is famous in the alpine trekking areas of Nepal. One can find many houses in the Mustang region completely living off of apple farming. This deciduous tree is small to medium in size. Leaves are dark green and flowers range from white, red or pink. Each group of flower consists of the main flower commonly called "King Bloom" which usually produces the best fruit if pollinated. Insects and honeybee usually act as important pollinators. The flower has the distinct smell of rose and bees are often seen hovering about it. The wood collected from this tree is used as firewood in homes. The wood burns hot, slow and releases a fragrant smell.
