Koiralo is similar to tanki trees but differs from tanki in that it flowers in spring in leafless branches and the leaves are much larger. The flowers of this tree are either white or purple. It is fairly common on the outer hills of the Himalayas. Koiralo is famous amongst Nepalese as its flowers can be eaten and pickled too. Koiralo tree's bark is used for dyeing, tanning and for medical purposes. A decoction of the roots is said to be an antidote for snakebites.
