Dodna eugenes is a small species of bird belonging to the family Riodinidae (the Punches and Judies) having a wingspan of 33-36 mm. These breeds of birds have 5 sub-species and have wings colored in brown with creamy spots above, with its larva feeding on Adundinaria. Tailed punch ranges the Himalaya from Kumaon to Assam, and above into west and central China. The presence of tail distinguishes the Tailed punch form its similar species common punch, Dodona dipoea.
