Even though this mountain is located in Tibet, it can be seen from many places in Nepal including Kathmandu. It is 26,042 ft/ 8,013 m high. About its name, "Shisha" means comb in Sherpa or Tibetan language. And, "Pangma" means "a flat surface." So, Shishapangma means, "A comb on a flat surface." Take a look at the mountain if it is a clear day. You will most probably see a comb-like surface. Although the mountain is famous as Shishapangma Hindus call it 'Gosainthan' and allude to the legend of the Samudra Manthan in which Lord Shiva had to drink the poison to save the world.
