Shigeo Osawa

Shigeo Osawa, was a regular winter trekker in Khumbu. Those who have dealt with him describe him as ever cheerful and brimming with life. He first came in 1980 when he was 56 years old and did the Everest Base Camp Trek every year from then on till 2008 to do one thing: dive into the ice cold Gorakshep Lake in 1 January!!! Look around the lodges along the trail, some of them have boards that show the list of his exploits.
