Pani Ghatta or Water Mill is an ingenious local technology that uses the power of water to grind grain without any human supervision. Basically, this is a wooden turbine at the bottom that rotates a jato or grinding stone. While this technology has been used for centuries, it has gotten a facelift in recent times with modern turbines and capacity to husk, saw and beat. Seems like clean energy was always a part of life here in Nepal.
