'Five fingers' is what paanch aaunle translates to. Although we are not absolutely sure of how this name caught on in Nepali we are sure that these have medicinal qualities in them. The part used is tuber as it is highly nutritious. Tubers of Paanch aaunle are used as tonic; also used in urinary problems. The flowers are rosy-purple and rise out of a robust leafy stem. The plant is 30-90 cm tall.
