This 7,234m (23,510ft) high beauty is the brightest and the whitest mountain you can see from Kathmandu. However nowhere from Kathmandu will you see an unobstructed view of this mountain as it is always half hidden by the high hills of Gosaikunda Lake. If you want to see this mountain in its full glory, you will have to trek to the Langtang Valley or at least climb up to the Gosaikunda Lake. The mountain was first scaled in 1978 by a Japanese-Nepali expedition. Since then this mountain has been climbed less than 20 times and there has been a lot of unsuccessful attempts. This dismal statistics of a 'small' mountain by Himalayan standards speaks volumes of the difficulty of scaling this steep peak.
