Roc Noir in French means "Black Rock" and it is no doubt much more grander than the "Grand Roc Noir" in France itself. Three ridges meet to form the Roc Noir which means it is located at the crossroads of ridges. The three ridges extends and ends with Tilicho peak at the North-west, Annapurna I at the south-west and Mt. Gangapurna at the east. Many climbers attempting the Annapurna I take the route to the peak via the Roc Noir. So, it is an important peak after all.
