The Indian Cuckoo has a call that is locally translated as "Kaafal Pakyo….Kaafal Pakyo" which means "the Kaafal is ripe, the Kafal is ripe". The fruits of Kaafal or box myrtle (Myrica esculenta) is highly prized in Nepal because of its unique tangy taste and also the fact that is not available for more than 2 months in a year. And the beginning of the calling and the fruiting is roughly the same.
