Nepal, especially the Everest region, is where all "highest" records are generally made. From highest brawls to highest rescues, the Everest Region has got it covered. Back in the 90s when there were very few commercial helicopter companies, the folks over at Nepal Army were the goto guys for high altitude rescue. Indeed, when disaster struck in 1996, Col. Madan KC of the Nepal Army, set a world record by rescuing Beck Weathers and Makalu Gau from 6,500m (21,300 ft). With the introduction of the more powerful Ecureuil B3s and more skilled pilots, limits are being pushed. The current record stands at an astounding 7,800 meters (25,600 ft). This was accomplished in 2013 when a team led by Simone Moro picked up a double amputee Nepalese-Canadian climber in a daring longline rescue.
