If you organize a beauty contest amongst all the mountains of the Annapurna region then one of the frontrunners to win the contest will definitely be Gangapurna. Gangapurna is best viewed from Manang which lies in the Annapurna circuit. It lies to the North-West of Annapurna III which is also best viewed from Manang district. The mountain is full of technical mountains and with lots of ice and snowy routes. The water that flows from this mountain gets gathered in a glacial lake that also goes by the name of Gangapurna in Manang. It was first climbed in 1965 by Gunther Hauser via the east ridge. It was a successful ascent.
