Eurasian Eagle-Owl, also known as Northern Eagle-Owl, is one of the biggest species of owls in the world. Their most prominent features are its stature, ear tufts, and bright orange eyes. These large owls (56 - 66 cm) are mottled dark brown in their upper parts and their underparts are heavily streaked. This nocturnal species usually takes up its position on top of a cliff before sunset and make their unmistakably deep and resonant 'to-whoo'. They are actively vocal during the colder months starting from late fall to winter. Speaking of cold months, January and February blasts off with the start of mating season for these birds. Once they find their mate, it is not uncommon for the pair to perform a duet together.
