The name Dudh Koshi means the river of milk. Since it is a glacial whitewater river it actually look as though real milk is flowing through its vein. Originating from the Gokyo Lakes, this river descend steeply and has a constantly changing course. This makes Dudh Koshi one of the most challenging rivers in the world for paddlers. Hence, it is classified as WW VI Category River for paddling. Though there have been few attempts by adventurers to paddle through this river, none of them are considered successful. Amongst those, the 1976 expedition of a British team was the most popular. However they only managed to complete the section by skipping various parts of the Dudh Koshi. Also only 2 boats out of a total of 11 survived by the end of the trip.
