These widely found social species are gregarious and usually seen perched on top of large grazers, usually cattle. Hence the name. They do this because as the large animals as they graze disturb insects and other small animals which the bird then picks up for breakfast. The grazers, in turn, get a service from these birds because the birds sometimes pick insects off from their animals' backs too. During the beginning of their breeding season, they grow fashionable yellow plumes on the back, head and neck. A delicate serving of grasshopper and bluebottle flies fall under its favorite menu and varieties of small insects are added as deserts. These guys roost communally in a tree and does not mind sharing space with crows, mynas and other birds.
