Black Kites have the look of a predator but in Nepal they live off on scavenging. They are also said to be the most common birds of prey in the whole wide world. They also have a habit of congregating outside of the breeding season and are very opportunistic in its diet. Such a dietary habit has concentrated these birds around large urban centres and a trekker will not generally encounter these birds of prey during their trek. They are easily distinguished by their forked tail.
