Bhadra Mela (fair) is a festival in the Thini area that is celebrated for 3 days. The festival is characterized by dances of different kinds, lighting a big bonfire and basically merry making and having fun. It is sort of a get together where people from surrounding villages also attend the festival and get along with their friends and family. The dances that are performed are yak dance, warrior dance etc. Don't get us wrong, Yaks don't dance, rather people are dressed as yaks and they perform the dance. This festival closely resembles the Gai Jatra of Kathmandu valley where people dress up funnily and perform various antics. Similarly, in Bhadra mela, people dress up in various witty attires and perform various dances. Archery is also a major attraction in this festival and good food and drinks are always present in any festival. It is celebrated on the Bhadra month according to the Nepali calendar which coincides with August/ September in the Gregorian calendar.
