Asian Koel

With its pitch black body and blood-red eyes, these guys look like a character straight out of a dark horror movie. And for all those little birds whose nest the Asian Koel parasitizes, this depiction might as well be true especially considering the fact that the Koel sometimes removes an egg before planting its own. While it might seem cruel, it is a perfectly rational evolutionary strategy considering all the effort that goes into child-rearing. If you can outsource the most intensive part of reproduction to another species, your chance of surviving goes up very easily. They are also very vocal to the point of being a nuisance with their incessant, 'Ku-hoo, Ku-hoo.....'.
