Ama Dablam or "Mother's Necklace" is one of the most photogenic mountains in the Himalayas. It's name derives from the fact that the ridges coming from the peak looks like the arms of a mother holding a child, while the Dablam or necklace part comes from the necklace shape of its glacier. If you can see it great, for I never could. It was first scaled in 1961 by members of a scientific expedition led by Sir Ed Hillary.
