Harshing Danda is towards the south of Siurung village and you will have to ascent a little less than 400 m to get there. The view from Harshing Danda will bless your decision of trekking along the homestay route for sure. Had you taken the more common route following the trekking trails alongside the roaring Marshyangdi river then you would have had to walk through hydroelectric units, large trucks and wait until Timang to get a satisfying view of the mountains. But choosing the homestay route means that you won't have to wait for days to get a glimpse of the awesome mountains. This awesome side trip from the beautiful village of Siurung will be worth the little climb. From Harshing Danda you will get an awesome view of the Mansiri mountain range, home to some of the big shot mountains that include the likes of Mount Manaslu, Himalchuli and Ngadi Chuli. Since this side trip will either be on the first or the second day of your walk you need to take your steps with caution. Your legs need to adapt with the difficult terrains, so if you are a novice trekker and walk too much in your initial days then fatigue might take over and you might end up with cramps. Don't push yourself too hard, take it slow and steady and enjoy the view from Harshing Danda. Take some light snacks along if you are a kind of a guy who craves for food every 30 minutes. Otherwise, a bar of snickers will do. This side trip is perfect for those who are desperate for the mountains. Altitude: 2230 m/ 7300 ft Lunch pack: light snacks
