Everest Base Camp
Everest Base Camp is a side trip from Gorakshep, lasting 4-5 hrs (Round trip).

- Duration
- 4-5 hrs (Round trip)
- From
- Gorakshep
- Altitude
- 5,364 m
Lunch Pack advisable unless you have friends in the Tent City. To go to Everest Base Camp, walk past the last of the lodges to memorials for people who perished on Everest. About half an hour later you will be walking on the Khumbu Glacier. This part of the route is subject to change from season to season for the simple fact that it is on top of the glacier. If you do not have a guide of your own it is highly advisable to follow a group that has. This will be especially important if there is fresh snow. A quick fun fact about the Everest Base Camp is that there are no views of Everest from here, though the view of the Khumbu Icefall makes up for it to some extent. If you were to choose between Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp, as it is very hard to do both in a single day, Kala Patthar wins the contest by a long margin.
