We just finished 18 days with Ramesh and his son Umesh trekking the Tsum Valley and the Manaslu Circuit. I called and booked Ramesh from our home in Alaska because several of my friends had been trekking with him over the last 10 years and had been very happy. The two of them did an amazing job of making this challenging trek a great success and wonderful experience for both my wife and I. Ramesh took care of all the food lodging permits and transportation so all we had to do was show up and walk!! Umesh nicknamed the Mountain Goat took much of our gear and paved the way every day whereas I took up the rear often arriving at our destination hours later with Ramesh patiently keeping me safely on track the whole way!! I couldn’t imagine a better team to keep you safe and happy in the Himalayas than Ramesh and Hairy Yak Adventures!!

Thank you Ramesh and Umesh for a great experience on the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley. It really worked perfectly having both of you taking care of us since our pace as a couple was so different and at the end of the day everything worked out and we were able to enjoy such amazing places. We knew this trek was challenging but having you as a guide made us confident to keep going and get through the pass even with snow, sun, fog… Your experience was priceless to us and we couldn’t be happier to have completed those 18 days in the mountains.

We completed the Mardi Himal base camp trek with Ramesh in February 2026. Ramesh was an excellent guide, sorting our permits, accommodation and transport seamlessly and answering any queries we had. The weather wasn't always on our side and he was invaluable in making sure we got to our camps safely in good time. We even saw sunrise from the Mardi Himal view point - a once in a lifetime joy. Ramesh is highly recommended.

We spent 20 unforgettable days trekking the Manaslu and Tsum Valley route with Ramesh (Hairy Yak Adventures) - it is no exaggeration to say that it was the best thing we have ever done. From start to finish, every aspect of the trip was exceptional, and a huge part of that was down to Ramesh’s professionalism, knowledge, and genuinely kind nature. He was always available to answer questions and made the entire planning process feel easy and stress free - we arranged a face time call with Ramesh a few weeks before travelling to discuss the itinerary and what to expect. We arrived in Nepal a few weeks before our trek started - even though we were not officially paying for his services at that point, Ramesh helped us source local SIM cards, guided us through withdrawing cash, and took care of transportation arrangements, including negotiating with operators so we never felt taken advantage of. These details made a huge difference and allowed us to focus entirely on enjoying the journey ahead. One thing that truly set Ramesh apart was how calm and reassuring he was at all times. Throughout the 20 days on the trail, we never felt stressed or worried. He was always one step ahead, anticipating what we needed before we had to ask. His deep knowledge of the Manaslu and Tsum Valley region was obvious every day, from trail conditions, weather, acclimatisation, local culture and food. Before the trek began, Ramesh came to our apartment in Kathmandu to review our gear. He checked what we had packed, advised us on what was suitable, and recommended what additional clothing and equipment we should buy/hire. This attention to detail gave us complete confidence heading into the mountains. On top of all this, Ramesh is simply a great person to spend time with. He is friendly, funny, always punctual, and a pleasure to talk and trek with. By the end of the journey, he felt more like a friend than a guide - we were feeling quite emotional that it was over. If you are considering trekking in Nepal, we cannot recommend Ramesh highly enough. Manaslu Circuit. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Friendly, helpful, resourceful and great fun to be around. His experience and knowledge shone through the whole trip. When the weather turned against us, his connections up and down the valley meant we were able to get food, accommodation and transport when required. We got the impression other groups were not so well looked after by their guides. I would, without reservation, recommend Ramesh for your Nepal trek.

Just like to say, what a fantastic time we had Ramesh looked after us so well hotel was very good in Kathmandu nothing was too much trouble our tracking trip ran into very bad weather unusual for this time of year so this put pressure on most of the guides, but Ramesh managed to re-organise the schedule managed to get us into different accommodation quickly and looked after us very well food was good great trip fantastic organisation skills from Hairy Yaks highly recommend using them . Big thank you to the shippers as well. They did a superb job.

Highly recommended: 11 out of 10 stars Ramesh was an excellent guide through the whole process. I cannot praise highly enough. In the planning phase helping us decide which trek, details of route and timings, advice on selecting gear, etc. Meeting us from the airport, helping prepare at the hotel (and last minute shopping). Then on the trek itself: friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, recommending what to eat, what to do, avd arranging all the food & drink. Through to post-trek, with transfer back to Katmandu with a delicious farewell dinner, and escorting us to the airport. We chatted to several other groups: many had spent significantly more, for a less inclusive package with a less helpful guide. Why 11 stars? Well it is important to have a guide when things go well. But the real test is when things do NOT go well, and this was when Ramesh shined. We had unseasonably bad weather which made the trek dangerous: Ramesh planned alternate routes, made sure we were walking safely, found accommodation and made what could have been a bad experience into a positive one. if I go back to Nepal I would absolutely ask Ramesh to sort out a trek fir me. Unconditionally positive review & recommendation.

Ramesh is terrific. He cares for his clients and looked after us really well. He is fun to be around. His mountain knowledge is excellent. He appears to be well known and liked by all. He organised our trip faultlessly. We had to turn back after 5 days due to dreadful weather. This did not phase Ramesh at all. He arranged emergency accommodation and transport that once again worked really well for us. Over all he is fab and I would thoroughly recommend him.

Another incredible trek with Ramesh! This was my second week-long trek with Ramesh, and once again, he made the experience unforgettable. This time, we trekked to Pikey Peak - a stunning route in February, with breathtaking views and rich birdlife. As always, Ramesh was well-organised, responsive, and flexible. We even adjusted our itinerary mid-trek to give us more time in a beautiful forested area, where we were lucky enough to spot the Himalayan monal! The accommodation along the route was great, and our extra day in Junbesi allowed us to explore the monasteries and soak in the cultural atmosphere. Sunrise at Pikey Peak was magical - crystal-clear views of the Himalayas stretching as far as the eye could see. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, friendly, and adaptable guide, I can’t recommend Ramesh highly enough! We’re already planning our next adventure together!

Kanchenjunga North and South Base Camp 28th Oct - 19th Nov 2024. My partner Johnny and I were recommended Ramesh to arrange and guide our trek and he absolutely delivered. This was my first time visiting Nepal and trekking in the Himalayas, and thanks to Ramesh it was an amazing experience. Ramesh is superb at managing logistics, and for the Kanchenjunga trek there are some complex arrangements to access the area. He was able to adapt our itinerary at short notice so that we could make the most of our time there. He was great company, very knowledgeable and his outgoing interaction and communication at the tea houses we stayed at made for a great experience for us. He had our health and safety in mind at all times, from nightly tests of our oxygen levels and pulse rates, to providing fresh fruit every evening, meticulously prepared. We took acclimatisation slowly and were successful in reaching both base camps. Thanks to Ramesh's expert guiding we had the trip of a lifetime!

I had perhaps an unusual arrangement with Ramesh, with me planning for a solo trek of the ABC area (without guide or porter). Instead of using his talents on the ground in Nepal, I interacted with Ramesh only online during my months-long preparation for my trip. Ramesh guided me in this way to plan my route, determine my packing list, and clarify my expectations about everything from the coffee situation at the tea houses to which temples are open for visitors to meditate. For every question I had, Ramesh had a prompt, clear and accurate answer. We worked off Google Docs and Sheets, and it all made for a very effective and organized workflow. When I finally did embark on my trip, I felt confident and knowledgeable about what I was getting into, and in fact I did complete my solo 2-week, 85-mile trek without problem. On of the highlights of the trip was on my last evening in Nepal at the Kathmandu airport. I was finally able to meet with Ramesh for dinner, and found him to be an exceptional human being — so enthusiastic about the work he does, appreciating it way beyond it just being a “job”. Instead he has an obvious love for the mountains and for sharing them and his knowledge of them with his clients. I couldn’t imagine a better person to work with as a guide, whether virtually or in person on the trail. Thanks again, Ramesh, for all your guidance. Ramesh was the perfect guide during our Langtang Valley trek, we couldn't have asked for better. He organised the whole trip himself whilst taking into account our preferences and making it seamless for us. He was knowledgeable and supportive, in the lead up to and especially during the trek. He fufilled his role as expert guide whilst simultanesouly being effortlessly funny and going the extra mile to make us comfortable. I will definitely be using Ramesh's services in future.

Ramesh was so amazing! This was my first trek-Langtang valley and Ramesh looked after us so well. Ramesh literally held my hand though very daunting parts of the Trek and my friends and I are so lucky we had him as our guide. He has fantastic presence and his expertise were very clear. Ramesh was a superstar. I think he may be part Yak! He was a great guide with an abundance of knowledge and insight. He was great the organisation of our trip, our porters and where we would be eating and staying each night. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a guide that knows his stuff and makes you feel safe with when going out on a new experience.

Langtang Valley Trek - Oct 4th-11th. I had the trip of a lifetime accompanied by Ramesh and a fantastic group of Porters. Ramesh’s communication was top notch as was his consideration for safety. I would definitely use Ramesh again, his organisation of logistics was very good, he found good guest houses and had a good sense of humour.

I went trekking with 7 friends in Langtang Valley with Ramesh, and it was truly a great experience! Ramesh was very honest and made sure that everything went well: that we were happy with the food, the accommodation, etc. During the journey, he shared his knowledge of the area as well as funny stories. He was also supportive to the members of our group who were struggling, and gave more freedom to those who wanted to go ahead. Once at our accommodation, he was always happy to accompany us if we wanted to explore the area around. I hope I'll have the chance to go trekking with Ramesh again because he is a such a great guide and joyful person ! 🙏

Highly recommend! We (a group of eight) had an incredible six-day trek along the Langtang Valley, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Ramesh was very organised, always quick to respond to all our messages, and made sure everything was planned smoothly from start to finish. During the trek, Ramesh was a fantastic companion - he was full of knowledge about the local area, the trails, and the culture - and his cheeky sense of humor made every step more enjoyable. It didn’t take long to feel like we were in safe hands, as he looked after every aspect of the journey and kept a close eye on the group’s wellbeing. Amazingly, Ramesh also managed to have phone signal everywhere (I don’t know how) - a reassuring aspect in remote areas! If you’re looking for a guide who knows the region inside out and can keep spirits high with a smile, Ramesh is your man. I hope to go trekking with him again.

We trek Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit with Ramesh in January 2024. It was simply perfect ! Everything was well organized and adapted to our needs. Ramesh is professional, caring and with him nothing is impossible. We wholeheartedly recommend Ramesh as your guide if you want to visit Nepal and have a successful trip. Our next visit to Nepal will definitely be with Ramesh again.

I booked my 3 passes trek to EBC with Ramesh using Honey Guides. What can I say, he is fantastic. Ramesh genuinely cares for you and I felt like a friend at the end of the trip rather than a client. He is clearly very well known in the region, stopping to say hello to people he knows and we definitely got the best rooms in the lodges. Best of all the trip worked out much cheaper than going through an agency. We saw some really poor guides who spent no time with their clients in the evenings and wouldn't change plans whereas Ramesh was open to plan changes as the trip progressed to meet our needs and wishes. I’ve done a lot of trekking over the last 10 years, and I don’t think I’ve ever met a guide who’s as dedicated, kind, creative, fun, and effective as Ramesh. I spent 6 weeks with the man across multiple treks. From the moment we landed in Kathmandu, he was a total handler. Getting permits was seamless, the day by day logistics were totally planned out, and even when we threw curveballs at him (changing days, wanting new things, etc) he rolled with the punches so effortlessly—his mantra is “anything is possible”. . More importantly we felt like he was looking out for us along the way. Nepal can be a crazy place, he helped us with SIM cards, arrange transit, not getting ripped off by merchants. But then there’s the EXTRA Ramesh Lama touch of care: Someone in our group left shoes at a tea house and Ramesh found a way to get them picked up and dropped at the next one! I had to leave a trek a few days early to get somewhere and he found a way to daisy chain some rides together and make it happen—he’s that good! He’s also really fun. On long treks, you want someone who can crack jokes, be goofy, keep the mood light, and always emit positive energy. He’s that guy! Traveling in Nepal will always have snafus, and nobody’s English is perfect, but this man cares, and goes above and beyond. 10/10 would recommend. I wish I could trek in Nepal forever to keep hanging out with him (and his lovely family who we had a chance to meet!)

I cannot recommend enough using Ramesh as a guide - I did the Mansalu Circuit + Nar Phu valley trek with him which was 17 days total (In total, I spent 2 months with him and did 3 treks). I connected with Ramesh months before I got to Nepal and we had multiple conversations to determine which trek(s) I should do based on the scenery I wanted to see, my fitness level, altitude, weather, and how crowded certain areas are. Ramesh recommended this circuit which turned out to be the best hike I’ve done in my life. The scenery was so diverse which was what I was hoping - Manasalu (which had a healthy number of trekkers) started in the jungle and moved up to alpine mountains and climaxed with Larke Pass. We then moved into Nar Phu valley which was off the beaten track with very few trekkers and a different more arid, desert / dry ecosystem that finished with Kang La Pass which is the best high pass I’ve ever done. Ramesh was so fun to be around. I spent 2 months with him and got to know him quite well. He is hilarious - he both tells great jokes and can appreciate and laugh at humor. He made every day on the trail more fun whether it was an easy, flat day or a hard, steep day with lots of climbing.

Ramesh is an incredible guide. I did an 11 day Upper Mustang trek with him in September 2023 which was phenomenal as part of a 2 month trip that he organized. The desert canyon scenery was stunning and it was interesting visiting so many old Tibetan monasteries. Ramesh was very knowledgable of the area and the paths - he always chose the best tea houses and gave us options to do additional side hikes. We took the eastern route back from Lo Manthang to Kagbeni which is less popular, harder, and more scenic because of his suggestion. Additionally, he was very knowledgable helping us arrange the necessary flight from Pokhara to Jomsom in advance and helped us get the necessary permits which was more complicated than I had anticipated. Ramesh speaks great English, is very organized, and is very accommodating and flexible when necessary. Ramesh, perfect guide in remote areas I had the privilege of hiking with my guide Ramesh from Hairy Yak (his trekking company) for 10 days from the end of April 2022 in Tsum Valley, near Manaslu Circuit. Because of health issues, I couldn’t do Manaslu, but Ramesh had already managed all permits prior our hike and I am convinced that we would have had a lot of fun for a longer hike. Ramesh has a good level of English, allowing great conversations and also was keen on teaching me some Nepali. He is the kind of guide that will help out if you don’t feel good (and if you feel great he will also notice what you like and don’t like). He literally stood with my shoes over a fire to help them dry, carried my backpack the day I was the most sick, but also he was very kind and thoughtful in these tiny gesture like asking the lodge for coriander as I loved the herb or asking them to make strong coffees for me because he noticed I preferred them this way. He would tell me prior the walk exactly how is the trail because he walked it so many times and he knows what he is doing, but also would leave space for changes of plans and the hike was flexible… you will not be stuck with a plan. Annnnnnd, such a smiling and laughing person… made a 10h bus journey actually somehow great. So, I recommmend Ramesh if you need a guide in any remote areas, to feel safe and cared and, at the same time, if you are like me and normally hike alone, he could be your « ninja » around, meaning giving you space if you need and be discrete… no doubt he would adapt to your needs. Thanks again to Ramesh and there is no way I will be looking for another guide for my next trip in Nepal! Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, Mustang, Dolpa … can’t wait :)

First of all, we had an amazing time and hope to go trekking with Ramesh again soon! We did the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley Trek in April. From the start, Ramesh was very professional, helped us create an itinerary and get the trekking permits shortly after our arrival in Kathmandu. While trekking, Ramesh made sure, that we always stayed at beautiful and quiet teahouses with great views and comfortable and clean rooms. He was very considerate about our wellbeing, especially regarding acclimatization. He checked up on us regularly and measured our pulses and blood oxygen levels daily. Although we had an itinerary planned, Ramesh was very flexible about adjusting it to our needs. During the trek, we greatly profited from his many years of experience as a guide! Ramesh has great knowledge about the trail, the mountains, the local people and their culture. Still, he would often ask local people to get the most recent updates on the trail conditions, e.g. about landslides and path changes, making us feel very save and in good hands! One of his great talents is to spot animals from afar, allowing us to see for example monkeys, blue sheep, mountain goats and jackals! But what we appreciated most about Ramesh is his kind nature, his unwavering good mood and his great sense of humor! It was always easy to talk to him and share a laugh! I had the great fortune of joining Ramesh and his client for 8 days while completing the Annapurna Circuit as a solo trekker. Ramesh was so much more than just an excellent guide for the trail – he offered countless insights into Nepalese culture and brought the surrounding landscape to life with his in-depth knowledge. Countless laughs and fun times were shared which made even the toughest days that much better. Ramesh is the best!

2018 me and a friend (both Swiss) made the manaslu circuit, guided by Ramesh. There were a lot of other guides, what gave us the possibility to compare: Ramesh's knowledge, humour and his engagement was really outstanding. Every evening he explained us the route and it's specialities for the next day, which he knewed by heart. He used his cell phone to organize the best sleeping place possible. He shared a lot of information about country and people and intended us to feel comfortable in every way. Although his enormous experience and a certain reputation, he is a modest person. All at least we had a funny time together, which I never will forget. Therefore I stayed in contact with him. I can really recommend Ramesh for a unique, safe and happy tripp!

I trekked Langtang Valley and Pokhara region with Ramesh Bomjan,after several friends of mine in Alaska recommended him to me.Ramesh was a great guide.I would trust him with my life! Ramesh was an amazing guid. I personaly am a hiking/camping guide in the canadian rockies and usually do not travel in groups. I'm also very critique of other guid. Doing the Manaslu trek with him was a delight. He would check our oxygen level every morning and every night. Making sure everyone was alright. One person in our group needed to be evacuated and Ramesh was able to get an helicopter to us within 24h when it usual takes up to 3 days. Able to answer any question we had Ramesh is very knowledgeable and point at animals i could only see with binoculars. Honestly this man has bionich vision. All in all The manaslu trek is the best trip I've ever been on and i would recommend anyone to hire him as a guide.

I would highly recommend Ramesh as a guide when trekking in Nepal. A few years back, myself and 4 women friends did a 21 day trek along the Manaslu circuit and Tsum Valley. Ramesh was the perfect guide for us with his local knowledge of the area and many years experience. We have trekked with Ramesh twice. The first time was a r a short trek in late November round the Kathmandu Valley. We had such a great time that we were keen to come back and do a longer trek with him. So a year later we were back for a 20 day trek round the Manaslu Circuit and then the remote Nar Phu Valley. Although we had never trekked at this altitude before (two 5000m passes) Ramesh made sure we we safely acclimatised and we successfully reached the passes without a problem. We were very lucky to have such a wonderful guide - Ramesh went to great lengths to make sure we had the best experience. He was friendly and kind as well as very experienced and knowledgeable.
