Unfortunately, I had bad experience with Madan. He got drunk and behaved inappropriately with me which made me complete the trek solo. I hired Madan to do the Three Passes trek after reading amazing reviews here. As a solo female traveler, it was important for me to find someone that is reliable for such challenging trek like Three Passes. In the middle of the trek, Madan stayed out drinking, to the point that staff at the tea house we stayed at had to carry him to his room. To make matters worse, he was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional with me the next morning. It got to the point where I no longer felt comfortable or supported, so I made the tough call to finish the trek on my own. It’s a shame because he has the skills to be a great guide, but the lack of reliability and respect made it impossible to continue with him. If you're looking for a guide that you can count on, I’d look elsewhere.

I contracted Madan for the three-pass trek (which, on my request, later became the two-pass trek), and he was very helpful from planning the itinerary to organising accommodation, porter service and, ultimately, providing guiding services during the trek itself. I was very happy with the service and accommodation provided, always felt safe, and appreciated Madan's advice and flexibility regarding the itinerary. 100% recommended.

We did EBC trek and Chola Pass/Gokyo lakes trek with Madan. We connected with him through Honey guide website and are very happy that we did. He grew up in Lukla and is very well versed with the EBC region. We added 2 days to our ascent to EBC. Both Madan and our porter Jeet were very flexible with their time and accommodated the additional days. Even though we wanted to do Chola Pass, Madan only booked us for 12 days initially and advised to listen to our bodies and decide about Chola Pass we reach EBC. We appreciated his thoughtfulness and consideration for our safety and expenses. Madan was very patient, observant and encouraging throughout our trek. He made sure we kept up with hydration and rest which helped us with acclimatization. Other than minor headache, we did not experience any other symptoms. Madan is fluent in English and very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and history of local region. He chose the best possible accommodations and made sure we were comfortable. The joy of the faces of Madan and Jeet when we reached EBC and Chola Pass summit added to our sense of accomplishment. We would absolutely recommend Madan to anyone who wants to trek Everest region. Our EBC trek with Madan was amazing. He always made sure we were feeling well and was constantly checking on us. We took the hike slow and kept apologizing for slowing him down but he always assured us we were fine, especially on the longer days. He always kept a positive attitude towards everything and never spoke negatively about anything. Madan was extremely flexible while hiking. Our original plan was to do EBC and think about Gokyo after we finished and were unsure if we were even going to hike it. But with a little convincing he got us to do it. He made sure that we didn’t have any symptoms of altitude sickness and when we had questions he always cleared our doubts and assured that we were doing extremely well. This boosted us and made our trek very enjoyable! He always checked on us during meals and also gave us company playing Uno ! Madan always booked the best tea houses and recommended the best foods to eat. Overall our experience with Madan was amazing and would with go him again. I would definitely recommend him!!

We did the EBC trek and came back via the Cho La Pass and Gokyo. Initially we were not committed to Gokyo as we wanted to assess ourselves after reaching EBC but Madan was very flexible with our schedule. Also he constantly monitored everyday and made sure that we consumed at least 4 liters of water. This helped us a lot adjusting to the high altitude. When we were slow he made sure to check on us and adjusted the pace. Also, Madan booked us in the best tea houses possible on the trek and made sure we were always comfortable. Madan has excellent historical and cultural knowledge of the Khumbu region which made the EBC trek very interesting. With Madan we were always confident of completing the trek successfully and would highly recommend him to choose as your guide!

Madan was a fantastic guide! Having recently completed the 3 High Passes and Everest Base Camp, I cannot recommend Madan enough! Throughout the entire 17 day trek, Madan was very informative and knowledgeable of the mountains and culture, providing amazing facts throughout. I had the most amazing experience trekking to everest base camp. My guide Madan was nothing short of incredible. He was so knowlagable which made me feel so comfortable and safe, he was also very patient with me on days I found tough. Always made sure I was feeling well, fed and hydrated to make sure we had a successful trip up to base camp. I don't know when I'll be back to the Himalayas but when I return It'll be to climb a Island peak with Madan!

Together with my boyfriend we spent 12 days hiking with Madan to EBC and Cho La Pass. Due to his great character, Madan made this experience unforgettable. Madan has been more than just a tour guide... He has become like a brother to me. From the second we started the Basecamp Trek he was incredibly helpful and attentive to my needs. He would monitor my water intake to make sure I didn't get sick on the trek and he knew the lay of the land backwards and forwards. When we were acclimatizing in Namche Bazar he invited me to a family gathering who were incredibly hospitable. I also can't say enough good things about his porter Srijan- he was such a kind hearted person who was always there for me when I needed him. Madan also takes really good pictures which is very important when you go on a trip like this and want to capture memories to bring back home for yourself and to show your loved ones. He made this trip the best experience of my life and I can't thank the universe enough for connecting me with him. Also when you use Madan as your guide he makes sure you are staying in the best tea houses with the best accommodations and meals. Being with a patient guide is so important and there was never a time where I felt rushed. He listens to your body and knows when to take breaks for water and rest. Me and 3 friends did the three passes trek with Madan and it was the best experience ever! having Madan as out guide was such a pleasure, he's grown up in the area (Lukla) and knows everyone that lives up and around the trail. Madan took good care of us and also became one of our friends on the way up, although he was our guide it felt like we've known each other for ever. he's such a loving and caring person who always make's sure everyone is safe and feeling good. he's fluent in english and we thought him how to properly poor a beer. Madam was an excellent guide. I hiked with my husband and he was supportive and more than that, reliable and patient. I had health problems during the trail and his skills were essential for a good finish. Even after the trail continued to help us with what we need. I highly recommend it and if I go back to the Himalayas, Madam would definitely be the guide of choice again.

EBC & Three passes trek A group of 4 including myself just recently returned from a 15 day trek with Madan as our guide in the Khumbu Region. To be begin our trip we flew from Ramechhap to Lukla where Madam patiently awaited our arrival which happened to be running 4-5 hours late of the original departure time. Greeting us with a warm smile and enthusiastic attitude, we knew straight off the bat that our trip was going to fantastic and we couldn't have been more correct. Madam not only walked us through the entirety of our trip itinerary but also happily adjusted it to hit some key points of interest of our own along the way. Madam also knows the trails/towns like the back of his hand as well as majority of people who reside within them. He is able and willing to provide help in many ways possible across the stretch and is very happy to do so. Madam knows the health and fitness of his clients well including early signs of altitude ready to offer his support even if simply walking alongside you to set the pace. We can’t thank Madan enough for the absolutely wonderful experience we had hiking EBC and the Three Passes Trek. Right from the start Madan was extremely helpful and advised well for our trek itinerary. We chose a 16 day trek to EBC which included doing the Three Passes in a clockwise direction. This is generally the harder way to do it as there is steeper climbs, but as you come over the passes the views are unbeatable. Madan was a pleasure to have for the trek, his English is exceptional and he’s always willing to help wherever he can. As he’s been trekking these mountains for more than 10 years, he knows almost everyone along the way. At EBC, Madan took us further into the campsites to have tea with his close friend who had summited Everest 13 times and K2 twice. I highly recomend hiring Madan as your guide! I did the EBC-trek with him in March 2023 and as a female, solo traveller I felt very comfortable doing the trek with Madan. He’s a great guy, very considerate, respectful and kind. He’s talkative and funny but at the same time very nice just to walk in silence with. He knows so many people along the trek and brought me to really nice tea houses, and gave me good instructions to help me avoid getting altitude sickness. He also know these mountains by heart. Very happy I did the trek with him!

From the very first day, we have felt trust feeling with him, and through all the trip it was just growing! First of all, he informed us about all the trip, managed our flights (trip was on september, pre-season, so flights was a really huge problem, but not for Madan!), helped us changing our money at really good exchange rate at 3500m, told us where we can find a really goood quality food in Namche, even according to our capabilities and desires - he modified our trip ending and we were able to save one extra day! He is really great Guide! Believe me! One day, when I will came back to Himalayas - no doubts, I call Madan! So, if You have decided going with Madan, do not forget to take playing cards! Nepalese knows how to play dhumbal, and Madan really likes it! We have learned how to play it, and that was one of the best parts of the trip, playing together with locals! Good luck! The best guide for Everest and Gokyo trek, full of knowledge about mountains and weather. Specially very helpful for high pass (cholapass). He is more friend then a guide for 13 days trek.

Madan is a great guide! Really enjoyed my time trekking the EBC with him and some other guides & porters. He was kind and knowledgable about the Himalayas. I really appreciated that he was so hepful towards the end of the trek, as my friends and I were super drained already. Madan is also flexible to spend more relaxed and fun time after each daily trekking. I do recommend him to be the guide for your next trip to the Himalayas! That was one hell of a trip to Nepal and Madan made it into a fun one. Madan was very professional, he set the pace for us to walk comfortably to our destination. Along the way, he showed us how to be respectful to the culture such as going around the prayer rocks and turning the prayer wheels. He checked on us regularly when he saw that we needed help. Madan goes above and beyond for us by helping us with packing away our sleeping bags and make sure the toilets are clean for our use. Madan’s personality came out a couple of days after. He’s a charming and witty guy. His sense of humour helped us go through our long hard treks. I remember it was the day for our EBC trek when one of our friends suffered AMS and he had to go and helped her. He was definitely missed by us because he surprised us at the basecamp along with out friend and we felt a huge sense of relieved. 10/10 would definitely go trek with Madan again! Madan is very experienced and patient guide. He knows every nook and cranny about Himalayan and the trek in EBC. He knows local people there (and also he's famous there) and his can-do attitude served me and my friends very well. He also took a very good care of us, especially for some of us who went sick. He's also a fun friend to party with :)) So, if you want to get a whole package of fun and amazing trek, definitely you should go with Madan.

Madan is a knowledgeable porter. He helped me in both EBC and Gokyo trek hotel , trek geography planning. Besides that Madan knows the path and weather well including all the significant mountains and high peaks conditions I have gained alot of knowledge and information about Nepalese culture and food through his introduction and clear explanation. Madan is theeee best guide ever!!! He is super nice, helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. When we asked him for something, he would go the extra length to help in anyway he can. He is very knowledgeable about the local region. His English is very good and he is funny and fun to hangout with. Even after we came down and during the stay at Lukla they took care of us like their own friends, The hardest thing for us to do was to say good bye. I'm truly grateful to him for his guidance & friendship. Whenever I go back to Nepal for a trek, I'm definitely booking him!

It was extraordinarily experience to be guided by Madan. I made a three passes trek and EBC and surprisingly had a lockdown in Nepal. He helped me with all the stuffs and the documents to leave the country. This is a gold man. Recommend to everyone.

Madan was our guide in 2020 (winter), as we trekked up to EBC. He was extremely knowledgeable about the mountains and the wilderness and was a lively presence as the hard climbing days went by. He is also very well connected with the various people that run the tea houses and live in the cities through the trek, making our journey smooth and ensuring that nothing was ever lacking. During the time we spent together, he became a true friend and we will not hesitate to work with him again and spend our free time together when we are next in Nepal. Highly highly recommended.

In 2017 we were so lucky what we got Madan as our private tour guide. We did the Everest Base Camp - Cho la pass - Gokyo Ri trek and that was a great experience! Madan has so much knowledge about the mountains, people and nature in the region and he was very helpful in all kind of ways. Madan was one of my porters when I was in Nepal a couple of years ago and he made the trip far more memorable than it would have been otherwise. He was very knowledgeable, trustworthy, speaks English really well, has a fantastic personality, and was very generous - including buying my friend a present for his birthday. Madan is someone I would highly recommend to anyone looking at trekking in Nepal and, without a doubt, would be the first person I would contact if I were to return.

Madan was a friend to me on my trek to Everest base camp. Madan is a very well organised guide, nothing was ever to much or to hard, a great can do attitude. He is also born in the Lukla region and has a wealth of knowledge with a great sense of humour. We regard Madam more of a friend than a guide and hope to be back very soon.

Madan took me to the everest base camp ! He is the best guide i could ask for really ! He knows the region by hearth and he can show you around stuff that would suprise you. He is very friendly.

My mate Emily and I had Madan as our guide for our trek to Everest Base Camp and Cho La Pass, Goyko lakes trek. I felt very comfortable with Madan, his communication with us about everything was great as his English was great. He had a good sense of humor and quickly adapted to our aussie- humor and banter. In fact I now consider him more as a friend than a guide. He has a huge knowledge of the Everest region and I look forward to returning and trekking again with Madan one day.

Madan was one of the tour guides that was looking after us during our trek to Base Camp Everest. Me and my friend branched off from the group to do Cho La Pass and Gokio Ri with Madan! He was alot of fun and had alot of time and patience which made the trip flow nicely! We had some harsh weather and alot of tour groups had to come tohether for safety. He took charge when the snow covered the trail and got us all through the storm safely. He showed alot more initiative and knowledge of the land then others which was extremely reassuring.
