- Location
- Upper Pisang

Comparatively new, this colorful Gompa sits at an altitude of 3300 meters overlooking the Upper Pisang and Lower Pisang villages. The construction of the gompa started in the year 1999 through local funds to replace an older gompa which was beyond repair. Inside this Kagyupa order monastery, you will see Sakyamuni Buddha beautifully adorned in golden attire which is further enhanced with the lights inside the glass chamber. Buddha is accompanied by Avalokiteshvara to the left and Guru Padmasambhava to the right. Buddhists belonging to Kagyu order have a knack for extravagance when it comes to decorating their gompas and displaying their rituals. This gompa is definitely not an exception. You will also see paintings of Buddha in different postures on the left wall and paintings of Avalokiteshvara and Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) on the right wall of the gompa. The pillars have pennant- shaped flags of different colors (white, green, blue, red and yellow) important in Kagyu Buddhism. And no, they were not sponsored by Google.
