While of recent construction, this gate has frescoes of the most important divinities of Khumbu. And what better place for introduction than right at the gates of this great national park. To your right is the Buddha in three different postures. Also depicted next to the Buddhas is Jomo Miyo Lang Sangma, a local divinity. She is the mother goddess of wealth and food and is believed by Sherpas to reside on top of Everest. To your left is the fierce form of Vajrapani followed by the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara, with the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, Manjushri, coming next. At the edge is the most important local divinity, Khumbila. As you exit the kani you will also see what Khumbila looks like in real life.
