This small easy to miss shrine is nevertheless revered by the Gurungs as a very important local divinity. The importance attached to this small shrine has got to do with the fact that avalanches are a real concern beyond this little shrine. Perhaps in days past, the shepherds that ventured into the Annapurna Sanctuary propitiated mountain divinities here to protect themselves from their wrath. Local Gurung tradition also dictates that chicken and pork which are considered impure should not be taken beyond this point.
